Courses

The FIC offers training courses for employees and personnel of companies and entrepreneurs within Ohio, parties located in close proximity to the state, and nationally. Selected courses such as the Better Process Control School and Food Safety and GMPs are offered in Spanish.

Customized courses can be held for companies on site by request. A minimum of 15 attendees is required for these on-site presentations. To discuss this option, please contact Heather Bell at bell.1534@osu.edu or (614) 292-7004.

Pilot Plant

The FIC has two distinct pilot plants that are available for new product development and research. The pilot plants are FDA and ODA inspected, meeting safety and sanitation needs. Equipment mobility permits rearrangement to desired product flow patterns. As a result, the pilot plants can be utilized one day as a teaching and demonstration area, utilizing current processing technologies and procedures, and the next day, with minor modifications, can function as a research facility probing new concepts and procedures.

Research and Development

These facilities are well equipped with over 20,000 square feet of food processing facilities and lab space to help you develop your product ideas. Our expert staff and researchers can assist in all stages of product development from initial bench work to finished product and consumer acceptance.
